HOW GOD FORGIVES US
"And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors" (Matt.6:12).
This verse is found in the group of scriptures that we call the Lord's prayer, it would be more accurate to call it the disciple's prayer because the Lord gave these scriptures Mt.6(9-13) as an example of how we should pray.
As part of my morning devotion, I like to pray over these verses and apply each one to my life. Sometimes, this takes about 5 minutes sometimes it takes an hour, depending on how I believe the Lord is leading me. I believe that it will take an eternity to reveal the magnitude of these 10 words before us.
Consider this, God is instructing us to ask Him to forgive our sins and faults in the same way that we forgive others who have sinned against us. Many different circumstances take place as a person begins to seek the Lord, but one common experience being that we begin to see our sinfulness and the need for forgiveness.
Then, there is a realization that we need the Lord Jesus Christ the judge of all the Earth to forgive us. Now, this He will gladly do but He expects us to forgive others that have done us wrong. This is a very deep subject but if you have come to the proverbial brick wall in your spiritual journey, search your heart and see if you have forgiven people that have done you wrong.
(Next devotion will be, how to know you have forgiven someone.)
